HR officer Danielle is this year’s Battle Ambassador

Danielle Noble-Devenney was selected as the 2019 Jersey Battle of Flowers Ambassador in front of an audience at Jersey Arts Centre on Sunday evening.

The 22-year-old, who is an HR officer for a finance company, won over the panel of judges to become the second title
holder, succeeding last year’s winner, Arcadia Lockhart.

The consort to this year’s Battle Ambassador is 21-year-old Emily Pallot, who is currently studying to become a primary school teacher at Brighton University.

Joining the pair during the August Battle of Flowers parades will be 12-year-old Eloise Morel, who was named as the 2019 Junior Ambassador. Eloise lives in St Lawrence and attends Jersey College for Girls. Her junior consort is ten-year-old Jasmine Joblonski, who is a pupil at First Tower School.

For 65 years young women competed for the honour of being crowned Miss Battle, taking centre stage in front of thousands of spectators during the one day summer carnival.

Last year the Miss Battle title was scrapped and replaced with an ambassadorial position, open to both boys and girls, as part of a move to modernise the annual parade.

The panel who were tasked with judging both of this year’s competitions were Mary Walledge, Guy Le Sueur and Tracey Peters.

Jackie Donald, event director for Jersey Battle of Flowers, said: ‘Once again it was another great evening with fantastic competitors so, as always, a difficult decision for our judges. It’s especially nice to see the Battle spirit is still alive within our younger community and I’d like to thank everyone who took part and in particular would like to wish our title holders an enjoyable and memorable year ahead.’

The evening, which was organised by Beth Moignar, included entertainment from local singer Scott Livingstone.

The 2019 Jersey Battle of Flowers is to take place on the 8 and 9 August. Tickets are now available to book online at battleofflowers.com.
