Temperatures forecast to hit 30°C by the end of the week
JERSEY is to be hit by a heatwave – with temperatures forecast to peak at 30°C on Friday.
Although the next couple of days are expected to be dull, with average temperatures – hot and sunny weather is due to arrive by Wednesday.
And the fine weather looks set to last into the weekend, with temperatures still in the mid-20s by Saturday.
The UK Met Office, which publishes long-range forecasts on its website, says there may be a breakdown in the weather later in the weekend or into next week.
In its forecast for the period 28 June to 7 July, it states: 'Friday looks set to stay dry, sunny, hot and humid in the south and east, with the risk of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms in the north and west.
'By the weekend and into the following week, confidence is low, with uncertainty in the possibility of a breakdown to fresher conditions gradually spreading in from the west.
'Thereafter, as we go into early July the most likely scenario is for possible continuation of thundery weather possible over parts of the UK. There are likely to be occasional spells of dry and fine weather. Temperatures will return closer to normal after a potentially very warm or hot spell of weather at the start of the period.'
