Police investigation launched after people are forced to run from car park to avoid being hit by a vehicle

The incident happened in front of the Beez Kneez café at Les Platons, on the north coast, at about 1.30pm on Friday.

The driver of the silver hatchback is described as being a white man in his mid-thirties, about 6ft tall, with a medium build and short brown hair. He was wearing glasses, a grey jumper and blue trousers.

In a statement, the States police said: ‘[We] would like to speak with anyone who may have seen this or who has any information concerning this incident.

‘In particular, it was reported to the police that the incident may have been captured on a mobile phone.

‘The police would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and that a male was detained shortly after and is currently at the police station assisting police with their inquiries.’
