Dog mess dumped after bin goes missing

The Growth, Housing and Environment Department quickly cleared the area at Grosnez and replaced the bin.

Bruce Labey, manager of municipal services for the Infrastructure Department, urged members of the public to let his department know if bins were missing or damaged – using the Love Jersey app – rather than simply dumping waste where the bin would have been.

‘It’s unhealthy and unhygienic for my staff who have to clear it up. If there’s no bin just take it with you,’ he said.

Mr Labey said the bin would cost about £60 to replace.

The St Ouen honorary police said they were unaware of the problem and nothing had been reported to them.

According to the Policing of Roads (Jersey) Regulations 1959, those who do not properly dispose of dog litter could face fines of up to £500.
