Temperatures of up to 21°C are being forecast for Sunday – 7°C above the average for this time of year – and the UV index is expected to hit six.

But sea temperatures are expected to remain at around 10.5°C, so a dip may prove chilly. Water temperatures, which are recorded in St Helier, are about average for this time of year.

Jersey Met duty forecaster Fraser Ralston said the chance of mist or fog was unlikely too so those looking to get away from the Island or welcoming visitors for the long weekend should have few weather-related issues.

He said: ‘We are looking at a good period right through to Easter Monday when there is a little bit of question mark as there is a greater concentration of cloud but any rain we do see might fall in the evening or night time.

‘Certainly Friday, Saturday and Sunday are all looking very fine with temperatures looking like hitting 21°C on Easter Sunday with light winds, possibly force three. It may be a little cooler on the north or east of the Island but we certainly expect to see those temperatures in St Helier and out west.

‘The settled weather is being caused by some high pressure over Scandinavia. The warm air is coming from central Europe, where the wind is coming from, and it’s starting to heat up there now. Had we had these conditions a couple of months ago it would have been bitterly cold.’
