Martin Frederick Daly had the library of material, which included over 1,000 images that fell into the most series category of child sexual abuse, hidden on four USB devices, the Royal Court has heard.
The 47-year-old was serving a non-custodial sentence for two counts of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of ten when his latest offending was uncovered.
Police officers had visited his parents’ home on four occasions to check his electronic devices, as part of the requirements of the previous sentence, when they uncovered a host of internet-accessing gadgets that he had kept hidden from them.
On those devices thousands of indecent images and videos were found.
Daly, who was born in Southampton, pleaded guilty to four counts of breaching a restraining order in relation to not initially giving up all his electrical items to the police. He also admitted four counts of making indecent images of children.
Advocate Lee Ingram, defending, said his client’s life had taken a ‘downward spiral’ after the breakdown his marriage and he had turned to alcohol.
As well as being jailed, Daly was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
