St Saviour road safety proposals go on show

The proposals, which are to make Bagatelle Lane safer for students making their way to school, come after an initial consultation in last year, when members of the local community expressed concerns about the road’s safety, particularly for pedestrians. The drop-in session will be held at Hautlieu School from 4.30pm until 6.30pm on Thursday.

The proposed changes include turning the lane into a one-way road for northbound traffic travelling from Bagatelle Road to Wellington Road, creating a pedestrian footway with bollards, widening the pavement at the junction with Wellington Road to improve visibility for drivers, and changing the road colour at the junction with Bagatelle Road to highlight the lane as a residential road with areas where pedestrians have priority.

All proposals were jointly put together by the Growth, Housing and Environment Department and the parish, who will go on to choose which changes to implement following this year’s consultation. Representatives from St Saviour and a technical team from the department will be at the drop-in session to answer questions. And those attending will be able to complete questionnaires on the plans.

Members of the public can still give their views by going online to gov.je/consult from Thursday 7 March until Thursday 21 March.
