Road closure and diversions for Gorey resurfacing work

Road closure and diversions for Gorey resurfacing work

The work will take place in phases and will progress westwards from the entrance to Gorey Pier towards Longbeach before finishing on Rue à Don at the junction of Beach Road.

There will be no access to traffic on the closed sections on weekdays between 8.30am and 6pm and lane closures will be in place at weekends from 9am until 6pm. Diversions will be in place.

Parking along Gorey Coast Road will also be suspended and regular scheduled buses will terminate at Longbeach car park. However, shuttle buses will be in place to allow passengers to reach their final destinations.

Businesses and nearby residents have been informed about the disruption and ‘business as usual’ signs are due to be placed in the area. The work is due to be completed by 22 March, subject to weather conditions.

Details of changes to bus services during the first phase of work are as follows (full details can be found at libertybus.je):

  • Routes 1 and 1A: A shuttle bus service will take passengers between Longbeach and Gorey Pier. Access to the Gorey Pier bus stop will be maintained for the shuttle service only.
  • Route 2: A shuttle bus service will take passengers between Longbeach and St Catherine. The shuttle bus will travel through Gorey Village and then continue along the normal Route 2 route, following the Route 2 timetable. All bus stops between Devon Gardens and St Catherine will be serviced by the shuttle bus. There will be no temporary stops through Gorey Village.
  • Route 13: This service will have no access to Gorey Pier. Stops at Mont de Gouray and Gorey Pier will not be serviced. The bus will wait time at the Le Monts stop (near Ransoms) to follow its usual time-
    table.
