Building firm manager Charles James Gales (34) was sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after admitting grave and criminal assault in relation to the incident in Prince’s Tower Road in St Saviour.

At the time, Acting Chief Inspector Mark Hafey said the force was offering support to the PC, as well as another officer who was attacked in a separate incident.

He said: ‘It goes without saying that it is unacceptable that a police officer should be injured in the line of duty.’
