And Tamyra May Baker (28) also pleaded guilty to kicking a second staff member in the small of the back during the same incident on 19 January.

As a result of her pleas, she is due to be sentenced next month and will also be dealt with for breaching a binding over order imposed in late November for being drunk and disorderly.

During a Magistrate’s Court hearing, Centenier Paul Huelin said that the offences began when Baker started kicking the door of the manager’s office.

She was shouting and screaming that she wanted to get her medication. He came out of the office and she tried to push past him but he got outside. The Centenier said that she then kicked him ‘twice in a kung fu type motion’ as she continued to shout and swear.

The court was told that the second victim was another member of staff who came out to assist and Baker kicked that person in the small of the back.

The Centenier said that there were no injuries caused as a result of the assaults. He also said that the defendant was effectively destitute as she was not welcome at Aztec House shelter.

There was no bail application and the case was adjourned until 5 February when a background report will be available to assist the court with sentencing.
