Les Ormes plans £1m activity centre

Les Ormes in St Brelade is going to convert its soccer dome into an activity centre with a trampoline park, climbing walls, a ninja warrior course and multi-age soft play structures.

Work is due to start in March with the new centre ready to open for the summer school holidays in July.

Activities manager Nathan Maguire said: ‘The activity centre will offer fun, fitness, mental stimulation and adventure all year round. The centre will also offer school holiday activity weeks, adult and toddler sessions, birthday parties, corporate events and specific sessions for mentally and physically disabled children by our trained staff.

‘Over the last two years, there has been an increase in the number of artificial pitches in Jersey and this has had an effect on the usage of Les Ormes soccer dome. The new activity centre will increase the number of people using our facilities.’

Les Ormes is owned by the Bosdet Foundation, a charitable trust that this year donated over £300,000 to local charities and non-profit organisations with profits from the sporting facilities and self-catering accommodation.

Managing director Mike Graham said: ‘For some years now, our charitable focus has been on children. Apart from the fantastic leisure opportunities this new activity centre will give local children, the equipment, along with allocated time, is being ring-fenced to support numerous charitable groups on the Island.’

Charities that have benefitted from the proceeds of Les Ormes include Jersey Childcare Trust, Family Nursing and Home Care, Brighter Futures, Jersey Youth Service and Centre Point.
