Young drug trafficker locked up for five years

Aiden James Brookfield-Dean (20) pleaded guilty to one charge of importation at an earlier appearance in the Royal Court.

In his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, the court heard that two silver bags were discovered in a microwave addressed to Brookfield-Dean’s step-sister when it was selected for inspection at the postal headquarters on 23 April.

Crown Advocate Richard Pedley said the bags each contained 1,000 tablets of MDMA bearing a ‘Punisher’ logo.

Police and Customs conducted a sting the following day, after substituting the pills with a recording device and GPS tracking system.

Brookfield-Dean collected the tablets and he was arrested along with his step-sister and her husband.

When interviewed by the police, he later admitted the couple had not been involved in the importation.

Delivering the sentence, the Bailiff, William Bailhache, said that the involvement of Brookfield-Dean’s sister was considered an aggravating factor.

‘We are satisfied that trafficking in class A drugs to this extent is so serious as to impose a period of youth detention,’ he said.

The Bailiff was sitting with Jurats Nicolle, Crill, Thomas, Ronge and Dulake.
