‘Excellent’ rating for sports centre

Quest Plus, who carried out the rating, noted the staff’s friendly, helpful and prompt manner and the facility’s health and safety guidelines.

They also remarked on the centre’s partnership with community groups, such as Jersey Association for the Disabled, which they said had a beneficial impact on Islanders.

The centre has also retained its Swim England Learn to Swim accreditation, which it first received in 2015

It was also found to comply with Quest’s Inclusive Fitness Initiative – a national programme that offers disabled people more choice and opportunities to be physically active.

The facility’s manager, Rachel Sawyer, said that the achievement had been a team effort.

‘Quest is much more than a tick-box exercise, it is an ongoing programme to improve the operational and service functions,’ she said.

‘The Inclusive Fitness Initiative accreditation recognises the achievements and commitment of leisure facilities who enable disabled people to become physically active. The accreditation provides an inclusive platform for disabled and non-disabled people to be active together.’

Meanwhile, Assistant Economic Development Minister Steve Pallett said: ‘An excellent score speaks for itself. Staff at Les Quennevais Sports Centre should be proud of their achievements, including the non-mandatory elements of Learn to Swim. It is the centre that I use regularly, so I see the standards set in all areas of service delivery.’
