Convicted rapist who attacked a woman while on day release is jailed for a further seven years

Andy Johnson was already serving a life sentence for the rape of a mother and attempted rape of her daughter (10) in the UK in 1999 when he was sentenced in Jersey.

The jail sentence was imposed for a sexual assault, which he had carried out 21 years earlier in Colomberie.

And last week, Johnson (47) was jailed for seven years after following a woman and her daughter (13) while he was on unsupervised leave from Bethlem psychiatric hospital in south London.

Croydon Crown Court heard that Johnson had left the hospital at 2 pm and had been due to return five hours later but was reported missing at around 8 pm.

He had been drinking in a Croydon pub and smoking the psychoactive substance spice before getting on a bus, initially with the intention of going back to the hospital.

However, Johnson instead got off the bus and followed his victims to their home, forced himself into their house and threatened the mother saying: ‘Do as I say and you won’t get hurt.’

Johnson fled when he heard the woman’s husband, who was already at home.

Johnson admitted trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
