Road rage in St Helier: Man ‘threatened with baseball bat’

The disturbance occurred at about 5.55 pm on Friday in the middle of the road on The Parade, opposite Kitty O’Shea’s pub.

In a statement, the States police said: ‘A middle-aged man in a red T-shirt, who was stopped at the traffic lights in a white Volkswagen Transporter van, exited his vehicle and approached a man in a car two vehicles behind.

‘The male in the red T-shirt was wielding a baseball bat, and the two males then faced off in the middle of the road.

‘The confrontation was heated and verbal insults were exchanged. The man with the bat was seen to wave it in the direction of the other male on several occasions.’

The two men were separated by a woman who was with the man in the red T-shirt.

A man has subsequently been arrested and bailed.

The States police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, particularly anyone who may have used their mobile phone to capture images.
