Large furze fire at Bonne Nuit

People living in Guernsey reported seeing the plume over the north coast on Facebook, while in Jersey the smoke could reportedly be smelt as far away as the Airport.

Shortly after 6.30 pm the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said they were dealing with a large open land fire in the Bonne Nuit area.

Pictures posted on Facebook by eyewitnesses showed flames on the cliff to the west side of the bay.

Two fire engines and a large bulk water carrier attended the incident, while roads in the area were closed and the public were urged to avoid the area of Wolf’s Caves.
