This week Beryl Le Gros turned 108, an occasion that was marked with a visit by her family to the Maison La Corderie care home, where she has lived for a number of years.

Last year the former teacher, who has lived in Jersey her whole life, told the JEP that while she did not necessarily have a secret to a long life, she still liked a regular glass of Baileys and a sweet treat or two – particularly chocolate chip cookies.

Mrs Le Gros, whose husband Cyril died in 1985, is mother to John, Kay and the late Sonia. She is a grandmother, great-grandmother and a great-great-grandmother.
