Krystian Radoslaw Bielski (27), who lives in staff accommodation at Chateau La Chaire, was told to move the Renault Mégane from the space he was using in the hotel car park as it was needed for guests, the Magistrate’s Court heard.
St Martin Centenier Peter Searle said that, as a result, the defendant pushed the vehicle down the road and left it on the public road in Vallée de Rozel.
It was spotted without a valid insurance disc on 21 July by an honorary police officer. The officer was issuing a notice when a member of the public told him that it belonged to a member of the hotel staff.
The court heard that Bielski actually owned two Renault Mégane cars and used one for spare parts while he drove the other. The Centenier said that it was accepted the car was moved from the hotel car park by being pushed rather than being driven.
Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris said that the offence was at the lower end of the spectrum in terms of no insurance offences, but added: ‘Even a broken-down vehicle on the public road has to have insurance.’
