Finalists revealed for Pride
of Jersey

More than 27,000 votes were cast for the unsung community heroes who were nominated across ten categories to celebrate inspirational and caring Islanders.

The top two or three in each category will shortly be judged by a panel of last year’s winners, sponsor representatives and senior JEP staff members, who will unanimously decide on a winner for each of the categories.

Judging is due to take place next month and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Government House on Saturday 22 September.

The winner for each category will receive a prize worth £1,000.

Paul Carter, the JEP’s managing director, said: ‘It never fails to amaze me, the range and diversity of the nominees and the vast amount of great work they are doing, tirelessly, selflessly and for the most part without any form of recognition.

‘This year has proved once again that this Island is blessed with a genuine community spirit that makes a real difference to people’s lives.

‘I am obviously delighted to see 34 very worthy nominees for this year’s event, and don’t worry if your favourite isn’t amongst them this year, as we actively encourage our readers to re-nominate them again next year, as we believe there’s no expiry date on raising awareness for good causes and we would be delighted to welcome them back in future years.

‘Next year we enter our fifth year for Pride of Jersey and I would urge everyone who has ever thought about a nomination or considered casting a vote to get involved to ensure this great event keeps doing what it can to recognise our community champions.’

The finalists are named in the Jersey Evening Post on Tuesday and Wednesday.
