Jersey Airport is one of the most friendly

And those travelling through Jersey Airport may have a positive start to their trip as the Island has been ranked second on a list of family-friendly terminals across the UK.

The survey, carried out by netflights.com, ranked the top 20 UK and Irish airports on a series of criteria including whether they have dedicated children’s areas, flight punctuality and pick-up and drop-off areas.

Jersey Airport came second on the list – just behind Birmingham – with an overall score of 8.1 out of ten. That meant Jersey ranked above Gatwick, Heathrow and Dublin airports. Leeds Bradford was bottom of the pile while Belfast and London City Airport also scored poorly.

The survey found that around 65 per cent of flights from Jersey left on time. Jersey Airport scored highly for offering a free water fountain, play area and pick-up facility.

According to the survey of about 2,000 UK travellers, keeping kids entertained, fed and watered while waiting to board a flight costs parents almost £45 on average.
