Boat Show raises £12,600 for Legion

The majority of the money was raised by the event’s popular hook-a-duck game as well as a fundraising dinner which was hosted ahead of the show and general bucket collections that took place over the weekend. Each of the 35,000 people who took part in the hook-a-duck game went on to win a blue ‘Bubble Duck’ which had been designed by 11-year-old Aimée Flack.

Tim Daniels, chairman of the Jersey branch of the Royal British Legion, said: ‘We’re extremely grateful for the visitors to the Barclays Jersey Boat Show who stopped to hook-a-duck and also chat about the work of the legion.’

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and the charity is also custodian of Remembrance, a role which ensures that those who gave their lives for peace and freedom are remembered.
