Boots UK has lodged a planning application to refurbish the former Frontier store at 10 Bath Street and create a new retail unit with flats on the first and second floors.

According to a design statement submitted to the Planning Department by a UK architectural company, the work is necessary to make the property usable.

However, the company has not yet revealed exactly what it intends to do with the space.

The design statement says: ‘The proposed works are in order to refurbish and make the property usable. This includes replacing the existing rotten lintel with new steel beams.

‘Replacing and redecorating the existing timber fascia sign, and repairing and redecorating the windows, shopfront and rendering to the walls.’

‘All the refurbishments are to restore the property and there will be no changes to the overall appearance [of the building].’

Boots have been contacted but have not yet provided any comment on the project.
