Procureur will stand in St Helier

Geraint Jennings, who since 2016 has also been a Procureur du Bien Public – an elected representative who has oversight of a parish’s accounts, said that if he won a seat he would work to develop a ‘stronger St Helier’.

As a long-term environmental campaigner, he said he would continue to press for a sustainable town and countryside with quality of life for all residents ‘whether rural or urban, young or old, long-established or newly welcomed’.

In a statement, Mr Jennings said: ‘I believe that St Helier truly needs a new deal – legislation to modernise the parish administration and a commitment from the States to work in partnership with the municipality and to devolve administrative powers away from ministers.’

He said the parish needed ‘the vision to ensure high-quality buildings for all residents in harmony with streets for people, a clean and green environment, and a society that cares for the public good – but dares to change for the better’.

Deputies Geoff Southern, Sam Mézec and Rod Bryans currently hold seats in the district, although Deputy Mézec this week announced his intention to stand for Senator.
