A puncture… and then the wheels disappeared

The 63-year-old found out about the theft when a colleague, who had gone to his house to fix a puncture on the Toyota Prius, phoned to say there was now a bigger problem with the vehicle than a flat tyre.

The man, who bought the car only last month, said: ‘The car had a flat tyre and so I asked a colleague of mine to go down to the property and sort it out.

‘He went down there and then called me to ask if I was having a laugh – as all the wheels had gone.

‘I thought he was joking, but then he sent me the photos.’

He added: ‘It’s just so odd – I have never known anything like this to happen in Jersey.

‘They even took the wheel nuts. Normally you’d expect them to just throw them away. So they are either very forensically aware, or they just wanted to take everything.’

Anyone with information about the theft, which happened at Le Marais, St Clement, on Monday night, is asked to phone the States police on 612612, quoting the crime reference number M01101/2018.
