In a statement Jersey Coastguard said: ‘Jersey Coastguard would like to advise boat owners that we have south-westerly gales forecast and heavy and prolonged rain as well this coming week.
‘Please check your moorings, dinghies, covers and sails when it is safe to do so and ensure that everything is secured. ‘If you do notice any vessels at risk of damage please call Jersey Coastguard on 447705.
‘We are manned 24/7 and will always endeavour to pass on information to owners. Also if you are out photographing or just enjoying the heavy weather please take care and don’t put yourself or those who might have to rescue you in danger.
‘Also, Elizabeth Marina Storm Gate will be raised at approx 9 pm on Sunday evening.’
