Strikes and weather cancels ferries

Condor announced that weather conditions were worse than expected and therefore Sunday’s sailing of the Commodore Clipper from Portsmouth to the Channel Islands had been cancelled.

In a statement the company said: ‘Weather conditions for today, Sunday 10 December have deteriorated more than predicted overnight. With winds and wave heights expected to reach force 11 in the English Channel. Therefore, it is necessary to cancel today’s service from Portsmouth to the Channel Islands.

‘We apologies for the late cancellation, which is due to the overnight update of the forecast.’

Meanwhile, this evening’s Rapide sailing from St Malo to Jersey and return has also been cancelled.

Condor said: ‘Due to the continuing risk of industrial action from French stevedores and also taking into account the manner in which the weather continues to deteriorate, we regret that this evening’s service from St Malo to Jersey and return is cancelled.’
