Letter to the Editor: Visit Elizabeth Castle… but don’t forget to take a picnic

ON a recent family outing to Elizabeth Castle we had two coffees, one soft drink and three small cakes. The cost of which was approximately £15.

The service was not overly friendly and the price was questionable. The cutlery also had a look of a near miss with water. What I didn’t like, apart from this, was that there was at no part of the transaction any hint of an itemised receipt. I believe that in any business, whatever the transaction maybe, it should be itemised by law.

The Jersey Heritage staff, from the booking made at the shop to the boatmen, guides, performers at the castle and shop assistants, was exemplary on all counts of service, conduct and attitude. So the good news is that you will have a fantastic day out at Elizabeth Castle, whether you are a family, on your own or with friends. The proviso is to take a picnic, in full knowledge of content and cost, and most importantly that it was made with love.
