Palestinian politician to give Town Hall talk

Haneen Zoabi, who is renowned for championing Palestinian rights and has been a member of the Israeli parliament since 2009, will visit with her parliamentary consultant, Yudit Ilany, to give the talk, which has been organised by the Jersey Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Natalie Strecker, co-founder of the Jersey campaign group, said: ‘Jersey is an Island which celebrates its liberation from occupying forces in May every year. An awareness of our Occupation is very much part of our identity growing up and we recognise Occupation as something that is not acceptable. Occupation is wrong and ought to be resisted and this must always be the case, no matter who the perpetrator or the victim. Our aim as a group is to support bringing about an honest and just peace for all in the region.

‘We were delighted when Yudit said she was able to accompany Haneen and speak about her experiences and the current situation in Gaza.’

The talk is due to take place on Wednesday 6 September at the Town Hall from 7.30 pm.
