New Les Amis service aims to make it ‘a good day every day’

The Les Amis ‘Day Service’, which was set up after a scheme run at Le Geyt Centre at Five Oaks was withdrawn last year, will offer a number of activities including lessons in cooking, how to handle money and choir practice.

Yesterday, therapy dog Sausage – winner of Pets as Therapy Dog of the Year at Crufts this year – dropped in to visit the new service as part of pet week.

Les Amis, which supports Islanders with learning disabilities, said that it had been searching for a new base to run its service for some time. The scheme is being sponsored by finance firm ZEDRA.

Following the closure of the service at Le Geyt Centre and before a permanent home was found at the Bethlehem Methodist Church, a skeleton scheme was run at the Philip Mourant Centre in Trinity.
