Simon Baudains (41) was taken to the Emergency Department on Sunday 4 December after feeling unwell.
The inquest heard that Mr Baudains, who lived in Grouville and had been in custody since 1 December, died in hospital a short time later after suffering a fit.
Deputy Viscount Advocate Mark Harris adjourned the inquest pending further investigations and said that Mr Baudains’ body was free to be released for cremation.
