Ex-nurse assaulted partner

The Magistrate’s Court was told that the 44-year-old woman threw a glass that caused a cut to the head of her partner, but no hospital treatment was required.

The police received a phone call from the partner at about 1.55 am on 24 October during which he said: ‘It’s just getting out of hand.’ Centenier Peter Garrett said that the defendant’s mood was described by police officers as ‘volatile’, and when she was arrested she kicked out at officers.

Advocate Sue Pearmain, defending, said that the defendant suffered from a condition that required her to take anti-depressants. She said it was unusual for her to drink, but she had consumed a bottle of wine that day and had no recollection of the incident.
