Price of a pint among highest in British Isles

And according to the chairman of the Campaign for Real Ale in Jersey, too many Islanders now drink at home rather than socialising in the pub because of the increasing cost of a pint in the Island.

According to the pricepint.com website, the average cost of a pint of lager in Jersey is £3.64 compared with the 30p you would pay for the cheapest pint in the world – in the tiny central Asian country of Tajikistan.

The cost of a pint in Jersey is also higher than the UK average of £3, according to the site, but still cheaper than the £3.90 you would pay in London.

It is much more expensive, however, to go out drinking in Jersey than it is in most UK cities, such as in Liverpool, where you would pay £2.80 for a pint, and in Glasgow, where the average cost is just £2.75.
