The 11 Islanders were taking part in a 12-week Prince’s Trust programme, which includes a community module which gives the team a week to plan and complete a project that will leave a legacy for others to enjoy.

All those on the programme are aged between 16 and 25 and are either unemployed, in education or in training.

Every year the Prince’s Trust opens applications to Island organisations who can put forward their project ideas. The young people then decide which project they want to complete, as well as raising the funds needed.

The current Prince’s Trust team, named Team 27, raised £375 to transform the outdoor play area at the school.

Nichola Turner, the head teacher at the school, said: ‘We are so grateful for all the hard work the young people have done for our school. The team have achieved something that we wouldn’t have been able to in that short time.’
