Minister ‘may’ consider tax on workplace parking spaces

On Monday the JEP reported that the Infrastructure Department was considering a model used by Nottingham City Council in which private firms are charged a levy of up to £379 per space per year.

The money is then put towards other sustainable transport policies.

During a Scrutiny Panel hearing last week, Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel said the Nottingham City Council scheme ‘may be considered in the future but it is a substantial piece of work and we are not looking currently to do that’.

The JEP regrets not making the statement clear.
