Man was bitten on nipple over pool table row

The 32-year old, of Clos de Fort, admitted committing a grave and criminal assault on another man at the Benfica Sports Bar in Cattle Street at about 8.30 pm on 3 September.

He was sentenced to carry out 40 hours of community service.

Police legal adviser Ann Reddrop told the court that it was accepted by the prosecution that the victim had taken hold of the defendant by the scruff of the neck, and that in retaliation he bit the victim’s right nipple and hand.

Advocate Pierre Landick, defending, said that it seemed unfair that his client was in court when there was clear evidence that a man had assaulted him but that man had not been charged with assault.

He said that his client had never been in trouble before and was a quiet, self-restrained person generally.
