Alice in Wonderland author’s exercise book is sold for £27,500

The famous author used the exercise book in 1889 to compile a list of names of the people to whom he wanted to send copies of his upcoming book The Nursery Alice, an abridged version of his much-loved 1865 work Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.

Written in looping handwriting in purple ink, the names in the exercise book include 30-year-old Albina Bertram Falle, of St Clement’s Road, who appears on the same page as Alice Hargreaves, the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll to write the famous Alice children’s stories.
