Expansion won’t spoil area, says Tamba owner

Letters calling on nearby residents to gather to discuss how they could object to the scheme were sent to a number of houses recently and a copy was published by Tamba Park on its Facebook page.

Under the plans, businessman Jonathan Ruff hopes to create a new entertainment centre that would include mini-golf, paintball and bowling as well as a 300-space car park on a disused area that currently contains glasshouses. He plans to fund the project through the building and sale of 15 homes on the current car park.

The message circulated by neighbours claimed that the expanded operation would increase traffic in the area, with ‘500 cars a day approaching from all directions’, and said that they would have to put up with noise from the attraction.

In a statement released yesterday, Tamba Park said: ‘Our door is always open and we encourage Islanders with these concerns to get in touch and look at all the careful hard work being done to provide this Island with something unique. But it is most important that the concerns being made public are based on fact, not fiction.’
