Round-Island swimmers raise £18,000 for heroes

Seven teams of six took part in the event, which started and ended at Elizabeth Castle breakwater on Tuesday.

A team from the Army won in a time of nine hours 20 minutes, while an RAF team finished just a minute-and-a-half behind.

All teams completed the race within 45 minutes of each other.

The team of injured servicemen – dubbed the Heroes team by organiser Charlie Gravett – finished in fifth place.
