Call for memorial to honour donors

Gynaecologist Neil MacLachlan is campaigning for more people in Jersey to sign up to the Organ Donor Register via the Love Hearts Appeal for Great Ormond Street Hospital, a charity set up by his family after his daughter Catherine had a life-saving heart transplant aged 15.

Last week he called for less talk and more action from politicians on the issue.

And now he has proposed the idea of an Island memorial honouring those who have become donors, as well as introducing an ecumenical service so that those who have lost loved ones who donated their organs can attend.
