Figures released by the States Statistics Unit today show that wages grew by 2.1 per cent during the 12 months up to June, whereas the inflation rate was 1.5 per cent.

Public-sector earnings increased by an average of 1.3 per cent – less than the rate of inflation – over the year, while Islanders working in the private sector saw their wages rise by an average of 2.3 per cent. The average weekly wage in Jersey now stands at £700, which is £36,400 per year.
