Human remains were discovered last week with a jacket that contained Mr Lynch’s passport. A post-mortem examination was conducted the next day and several samples were sent to the UK for DNA analysis.
A formal identification has now been made and, in a brief statement, the States police said: ‘The results confirm that the body is that of 20-year-old Adrian Lynch.
‘The family have been updated and specialist family liaison officers continue to work in support of the family.
‘The States of Jersey Police will now prepare an inquest file for consideration of the Deputy Viscount.’
The former Victoria College student vanished in December after a work Christmas party and the States police say there is no evidence of any trauma or third-party involvement.
