Want to open a new music studio? Call on a Sugababe!

The 33-year-old flew over from her home in London on Wednesday to open the Progressive School of Music’s new studio in St Helier after being invited to do so by the school’s owner, Leila Begg.

Ms Range, who was a member of the girl band Sugababes for 11 years, during which time she recorded six UK number one singles with the band, said it was an ‘honour’ to open the new studio.

Ms Range, who once performed in Jersey with the Sugababes before the pop act disbanded in 2011, has this year played the character Beth in the West End musical War of the Worlds and she said that the school’s new studio in town was the ideal learning base to help Jersey children develop their musical and theatrical skills.
