The States police, which declined to give details of the cold cases, said one was ‘well advanced’ while the other was ’embryonic’.

Detective Superintendent Stewart Gull, head of crime services for the force, told the JEP that the unsolved crimes both dated back to the ‘mid-1990s’.

In 2011, the year Det Supt Gull joined the force, the States police opened up a series of cold-case investigations which included unsolved crimes such as rape and murder. Since then, two sex attackers have been jailed for a combined total of more than 13 years for their crimes, which had gone unsolved for years.
