Stay on guard for post-Brexit legal changes, employers told

Martin Buckland, director of HR At Work, said that although as yet no one could predict what those changes might be, the Island would not be immune.

Mr Buckland, who was previously deputy director of the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service (JACS) and recently spoke at a presentation on Brexit changes relating to employment, said that agency working regulations, in particular, could have a knock-on effect in Jersey.

He said that because of the cost to UK employers of giving agency workers the same rights as permanent staff after 12 weeks, it was likely that this rule would be cancelled out and not replaced.
