Civil servants’ trip will bring in more than we paid, says civil servant

But following the Investing in African Mining Indaba event in February, one company has reportedly already relocated to Jersey – a move which the senior civil servant who led the Island’s delegation says will bring in more in tax in a year than the cost of attending the event.

The figures, which were released following a freedom of information request by the JEP, show that the total amount spent on the conference was £44,394.

That includes almost £13,000 spent by Economic Development chief executive Mike King and Locate Jersey’s Wayne Gallichan on fully flexible business-class flights to and from Cape Town for the event.
