There’ll be dancers in the street

The Band of the Island of Jersey led the way, and each team was preceded by a mascot in national dress. Once the competitors had assembled at Springfield, the Jersey team marched on to the pitch and the Bailiff, William Bailhache, welcomed them all before declaring the competition open.

Kimberley Wyatt, a former member of pop band the Pussycat Dolls and ambassador for the Dance World Cup, also took part in the opening ceremony.

Later in the day, she judged a dance competition at the Opera House, featuring a child from every country.
