Jersey is in a good position if there is Brexit, says economist

Derry Pickford, head of asset allocation at Ashburton Investments, last week highlighted a number of potential risks, not least the UK referendum on remaining in the European Union which takes place on Thursday.

Mr Pickford said that regardless of the outcome of the vote, longer term there would always be a role for well-regulated international centres like Jersey.

‘This is a very attractive place to do business, the Island has a very talented workforce, employing people in London is very expensive, and if talent in Jersey is just as good if not better, why do everything out of London?,’ he said.
