After a chilly April, which lived up to its reputation for sunshine and showers, an area of high pressure will move across the British Isles and dominate the weather for at least the next five days.

The arrival of warm and sunny weather comes after a cool April, during which the average temperature was 9.8°C – slightly below the 30-year average for the month of 10.4°C.
