I heard the roar of a sporty car, says victim of town hit-and-run incident

A WOMAN who suffered a fractured hip following a hit-and-run incident last week has described how a sports car smashed into her and narrowly missed a young mother and baby.

Mother-of-one Sarah Devenish (28) claims she heard the black Audi Sport driving up Midvale Road before it mounted the curb and struck her and the impact threw her onto her friend, she said, who was walking beside her, pushing her nine-month-old baby in a pram.

Miss Devenish, who says she that she will never walk along that stretch of road again, said she shouted at the driver to say she had been hit but that he or she drove off through a set of red lights towards David Place.

The States police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident, which happened last Monday at about 9.10 am, to contact them on 612612. Officers say that the black Audi Sport had chrome wing mirrors.
