Best start to a year for tourism since 1999

The organisation, which took over marketing the Island as a visitor destination last year, is preparing for a major promotional campaign this summer, including a significant ‘rebrand’ in order to boost tourism numbers.

On Friday, Adam Caerlewy-Smith, the head of marketing for Visit Jersey, revealed that visitor figures for 2016 were encouraging and that the Island had experienced its best start for more than 16 years.

Addressing around 100 members of the Jersey Hospitality Association following the organisation’s AGM lunch, Mr Caerlewy-Smith said: ‘We have now seen two consecutive years of growth in the number of staying leisure visitors choosing Jersey, something that last happened almost 20 years ago.’
